COVID-19

COHH is in the Central Plateau region of Haiti. There have been few instances of COVID-19. Nevertheless, strict guidelines are being followed to avoid a serious outbreak in the region. Haiti is ill-equipped to deal with a pandemic. Haiti does not have the financial or health resources to combat a pandemic. COVID-19 in Haiti is like being on the Titanic.

Our School Continues

COHH started its school year in November 2020 with students attending class on our campus.  The children, in grades 1-9, cannot engage in remote learning. They do not have electricity in their homes. Nor do they have computer equipment. COHH has organized the classrooms with distant seating and staggered class times. As a result, there are fewer children on site at the same time and fewer children in class.

Test Time Outdoors

We are in the dry season in Haiti. The weather is conducive for outdoor classes. The children in the pictures are taking their exams. At a distance, they can take the exams without wearing their masks. Masks are required for indoor classes. The rooms and furniture are sanitized on a daily basis. Sanitized wipes are available in every classroom.

Our Hearts Go On

Vaccines are not readily available in Haiti yet. We do not know when the vaccines will be available or the order in which the people will be vaccinated. Meanwhile, we will continue with our education program with our children.
