Flora Schnall Scholarship Fund

Enhanced Education Environment Fundraising Haiti School
Funds At Center of Hope (Haiti), Inc

Background

As COHH approaches its 20th anniversary in March 2024, we are very much a mature organization with increasing and ongoing operating and capital expenses. The children of severe poverty that we support now range from the first grade through grade 13. We are very much experiencing the maturation of our student population, particularly in regard to expenses.

In addition to its General Fund, COHH has other funds for specific needs. We are grateful for the Givelively.org website support for our funds. We started with our General Fund for operating costs. We added the Friendship Fund for donors that wish to give to specific needs of our children, including school supplies and personal care items. The School Fund is a capital fund for building our school and other capital improvements. We are currently fundraising for the installation of solar energy at our site and the construction of our fourth classroom building.

Flora Schnall Scholarship Fund

The students that graduate from COHH Elementary and Secondary School are eligible to continue their education in high school if they pass the National Exam. Our graduates are children of extreme poverty and cannot afford to continue their education. COHH established the Flora Schnall Scholarship Fund to pay for the children to continue their education in private Catholic high schools. (COHH does not have the financial wherewithal to expand its school to include a high school.). COHH pays for the children’s tuition, uniforms, shoes, school supplies, transportation and food.

Who is Flora Schnall? Although well-known in the circles of society, she is a very private person with respect to her support for charities. We are pleased to have her support of COHH since our founding in 2004. As our children approached their transition to high school, the COHH Board strongly supported the naming of the Scholarship Fund in her honor. It is consistent with her high regard for educating less fortunate children.

Come Join Us - All Hands Are Needed

As the pipeline of graduates continue, COHH will be providing scholarship support for up 60 students every year. Moreover, we expect that support to continue for those students that wish to continue their education in college. It is therefore necessary that we grow the size of the Fund in order to meet the expected expenses. All contributions to the Fund are welcome and appreciated. Contributions can be made on the COHH Website, by Text Message or by Sending A Check to COHH, all as indicated the COHH Website.
