2013 Hope Award To DOMUS Kids

Haiti Orphanage

The Center of Hope (Haiti), Inc. Hope Award has been given annually since 2005 at the Center of Hope (Haiti) Annual Gala. The Award is given to an individual or organization that has focused on the underprivileged in society in an effort to relieve their poverty, improve their health and well-being and enhance their educational experience. These objectives are very much in line with the work of Center of Hope (Haiti), Inc. in Haiti. This year, the Hope Award will be presented to DOMUS Kids, Inc. at the Center of Hope (Haiti), Inc. Eighth Annual Gala at The Tent At Bryant Park Grill, New York, NY on November 6, 2013

Its Board of Directors consists of many representatives of the Stamford business community. Representatives at DOMUS will tell you “we find and love young people who are shut out, unwanted, unloved, and afraid…the young people society has failed and discarded and, without our intervention, would drop out of their schools and their communities and be incarcerated, homeless, or dead. Because our young people have been chronically exposed to adverse childhood experiences, and because they have reacted to this trauma by harming or threatening to harm themselves or others, they are feared and shunned.” DOMUS’ goal for young people in their programs is to create the conditions necessary for them to get on a path toward health and opportunity so they can engage and succeed in school and ultimately have satisfying and productive lives.

Please join with COHH in congratulating the DOMUS team led by Michael Duggan, Executive Director. Mark your calendars and plan on joining us at the COHH Eighth Annual Gala for the formal presentation of the Hope Award.
