COHH sponsors regular visits to Haiti. Admittedly, neither the trip nor the the work is for everyone. It can be both physically and emotionally draining, but for those who are willing to tackle the local living conditions, it will be an experience of a lifetime for you and for the children.

COHH will prepare you for your volunteer work. There are limited slots, so it will be on a first-come basis.

Volunteers

We are currently in the start up phase. We need volunteers that have trade skills such as electricians, plumbers, carpenters, and tilers. We can use your help for one week to two weeks at a time. We are also seeking volunteers that can help with the development of our educational curriculum and administrative policies and procedures. We are asking the volunteers to spend at least 30 or more days at the orphanage site. These volunteers may assist with the retention of local professionals and administrative help to operate the orphanage. In the case of both types of volunteers, we will provide transportation between Port Au Prince airport and the orphanage site in Hinche. We will also provide room and board for the period of your stay in exchange for your services. Except as provided above, we are not accepting short term volunteers at this time.

Each volunteer must complete our online application, submit a resume, two personal references and a Letter of Good Conduct (or equivalent) from your local police department. If you are accepted as a volunteer, we will also require a passport size photo. Please consult your local doctor for information regarding shots and other medical information.

Fundraising
This is probably the place where we have the greatest need and you can have the greatest impact. Right now we have an abundance of opportunities and a lack of funding to make them a reality. For example, if you were to raise $100, that could provide teaching and school supplies that are so desperately needed. $500 dollars could provide beds for the orphanage. $500 - $2,000 could provide many of our construction needs.
