Tomorrow is Easter. It is also the 9th anniversary of the Center of Hope (Haiti). For COHH, it is only fitting that the two events coincide for we know that we represent His mercy and grace upon children in Haiti. COHH is not one or two people, but rather many people who have for 9 years worked to achieve our mission in Haiti.
Does Haiti Celebrate Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is a congressionally declared holiday in the United States. No such action has taken place in Haiti. However, there is more to the day than a declaration. In fact, the celebration took place in the United States before any act of Congress. The day is a time of families and friends coming together, in peace and harmony (hopefully), to break bread and give thanks to God for His blessings throughout the preceding year.
Foremost, I wish to say thank you.
Thank you for your work and devotion to the children of Haiti. I am a firsthand witness to how your organization has touched lives and offered a brighter future to the impoverished children of rural Haiti.
Fortunately, our children were off from school this week to celebrate Easter. On Wednesday, we experienced a nightmare in broad daylight that will be with us for a very long time. A truck pulled up to our gate with more than a dozen men. Out from the truck came a man who said that he was a bailiff and one that said he was a policeman. They said that they were there to seize our property pursuant to a court order.
