EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Port Au Prince Flattened - Massive Destruction - Death Toll Feared To Be High

Historically, in the U.S. and the United Kingdom, an upside down flag has been seen as a sign of distress on ships. The ship of Haiti is in distress. January 12, 2010 will be forever remembered in the history of Haiti. The most devastating earthquake, measured at 7.0, hit Haiti at around 5pm in the early evening causing unimaginable injury, death and destruction. It is reported to have been the first earthquake to hit Haiti in over 200 years.
We mourn the untold loss of life, rumored to be in the tens, if not hundreds, of thousands. Time will tell. Our hearts go out to the families of those that lost their lives and to the survivors, for there is much to be done, so little time to do it, with too few resources. The initial outpouring of support for the people of Haiti is very gratifying. How to coordinate and facilitate the support in an effective way remains a challenge.
In honor of those that have lost their lives and those that are fighting for a livelihood in Haiti, we will leave this message on this website for a period of time as a memorial and a reminder of what has occurred, and what needs to occur, in Haiti.
UPDATE: Janaury 17, 2010. We received great news this morning from our construction manager. He is alive and well and in the process of helping others in Port Au Prince. He also reported that our people in Hinche were all well and were not affected by the earthquake. The Center of Hope (Haiti) orphanage complex in Hinche is intact and was not affected by the earthquake. He reported that the road between Hinche and Port Au Prince is open to traffic, but is heavily burden with traffic. Given the state of affairs in the country, particularly children that are now orphaned, it is even more important to complete our project and get the doors open. Thanks to everyone for their prayers and expressions of support. We hope that we can count on you for the difficult days ahead.
We ask God’s blessings on all that remains to transpire.
